WHY I’M RUNNING I chose to run for the NC House because I believe every community deserves a seat at the table where decisions are made. As a woman and an African American educator, I know how important it is for diverse voices to be represented—especially when it comes to public education. I want the experiences and perspectives of my community to be reflected in the policies that shape our schools and our future. MY EXPERIENCE IN EDUCATION I have spent nearly 30 years working in education, beginning as a teacher’s assistant and later serving as a teacher, academic specialist, principal, and adjunct professor. Each role strengthened my commitment to educating and supporting the next generation, and gave me a broad view of what students and schools need to succeed. WHO I’VE SERVED Throughout my career, I have worked primarily in economically disadvantaged communities, focusing on narrowing achievement gaps and expanding opportunity. As a parent and volunteer, I have also supported students of all ages through PTAs, JROTC programs, performing arts, athletics, and church youth groups. Education has always been both my profession and my service. WHAT I’LL BRING TO THE NC HOUSE District 35 is where I raised my children and built deep roots in the Wake Forest community. If elected, I will bring moral integrity, thoughtful leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility to every decision I make. I believe a representative’s role is to speak for their community, listen carefully, and work for the greatest positive impact. I look forward to representing District 35 with care, purpose, and commitment.

Want to Vote for Michele?
Here’s Exactly What to Do

Michele Voter Registration.png

Step 1:

Check or update your voter registration, right away

Michele is running in the Republican primary.
To vote for her, you must be Registered Republican or Unaffiliated voter by the deadline.

➡️ Check or update your registration here: It's free, fast and easy!

Important registration deadlines

North Carolina requires voter registration changes 25 days before you vote.

  • January 18 — last day to register or change your registration and vote early

  • February 6 — last day to register or change your registration to vote on Primary Day, March 3

If you are currently registered as a Democrat and want to vote for Michele, you must change your registration to Unaffiliated by one of these deadlines.

Step 2: Vote early or on Primary Day

You can vote in the Republican primary in one of two ways:

  • Early voting: February 12 – February 28
(Available if you are registered Republican or Unaffiliated by January 18)

  • Primary Day: Tuesday, March 3
(Everyone who is registered by February 6 can vote on this day)

➡️ Find early voting sites or your Election Day polling place:

Step 3 (Important): Ask for the Republican ballot

  • Registered Republicans will automatically receive a Republican ballot.

  • Unaffiliated voters must ask for a Republican ballot when they vote.

Note: Asking for a Republican ballot does not change your party registration.

Why March matters

The real decision in this race happens in March.

Michele is running against Mike Schietzelt in the Republican primary in March. The winner of that race advances to the November general election.

There is only one candidate in the Democratic primary, Evonne Hopkins.  Since no one is challenging Hopkins on March 3, she will automatically advance to the November election.

The winner of the November general election will become your representative.

If you want Michele to be on the ballot in November, you must vote for her in March.

Quick checklist

✔️ Register Republican or Unaffiliated by Jan 18 (to vote early)
✔️ Or register by Feb 6 (to vote on March 3)
✔️ Vote Feb 12–28 or March 3
✔️ Ask for a Republican ballot

Support Michele's Campaign

Just a few hundred votes on March 3 could advance Michele to the November general election.
